Spring & Fall Leaf Collection
Spring Leaf Collection

In the spring, Concord residents with curbside trash and recycling collection can place an unlimited amount of leaves and grass clippings in biodegradable yard waste bags or labeled rigid containers (no plastic bags) for Spring Leaf Collection. Leaves must be to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled trash collection day next to your trash and recycling. Collection will occur for six weeks. Do not place leaves freely at the curb as this collection method is only during Fall Leaf Collection. Bags and containers containing any unacceptable items will not be collected. Leaves are brought to Gelinas Excavation & Earth Recycling Center to be recycled into compost for reuse. Residents are welcome to also bring their leaves to Earth Materials Recycling Center for disposal.

2018 Spring Leaf Collection
Spring Leaf Collection is scheduled to begin on Monday, April 23, 2018. Collection will occur for six weeks through June 2, 2017. No collection on Monday, May 28, 2018 due to the Memorial Day holiday. Trash and leaf collection for that week will be delayed by one day through Saturday. Any remaining leaves after the program ends can be disposed of at Gelinas Excavation & Earth Recycling Center

Residents with curbside collection have these options for Spring Leaf Collection:
  1. Place leaves in biodegradable paper yard waste bags (available at local stores).
  2. Place leaves in labeled rigid containers (less than 50 pounds). No plastic bags.
  3. Place leaves in a combination of yard waste bags or labeled rigid containers.

Drop-Off Leaves
Concord residents can dispose of their leaves for free at Gelinas Excavation & Earth Recycling Center if the load is smaller than a non-commercial pick-up truck. Brush, branches, and limbs can be dropped off separately for a nominal fee. Proof of residency is required. Loads must be 100% free of any unacceptable materials. Residents will be required to empty contents of bags when disposing of yard waste. Any unacceptable materials found must be retrieved by person(s) dumping. Gelinas Excavation reserves the right to reject any load. Illegal dumping will be subject to fines and penalties.

Fall Leaf Collection

In the fall, Concord residents can participate in the City of Concord's Fall Leaf Collection. Participating residents must rake their leaves to the curb (un-bagged) for Concord General Services' Highway and Utilities crews to vacuum up. Crews typically only have time to collect once, focusing on high priority residential streets and drainage areas. Only leaves will be picked up and any miscellaneous items (including branches, rocks, and brush) will not be collected. Leaves are brought to several locations for composting after collection.

2018 Fall Leaf Collection
Fall Leaf Collection is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, October 29, 2018 and continue as weather permits through December 7, 2018. Residents should have leaves ready to the curb by the start of the program to not miss collection. Be prepared for crews to only come by once since there is a limited time frame for crews to collect leaves throughout the city. Three crews will be collecting leaves throughout the city. It cannot be predicted when crews will reach certain areas due to unpredictable leaf volumes and weather conditions. Once collection starts, our Fall Leaf Collection Map will become available to display where crews have already collected from the previous day. Zoom in to the color-coded crew routes to see the dates of completed collection. The map helps to forecast the direction of collection, but the course can change and residents should prepare their leaves for the start of the program.

Veteran's Day Collection
The only predetermined area scheduled for Fall Leaf Collection is the area around Concord High School for Veteran’s Day. This area is scheduled for collection on Veteran’s Day each year in coordination with the holiday school closure to minimize public disturbance and in consideration of public safety. Please avoid parking next to leaf piles in this area on this day to not block equipment from safely collecting leaves. Crews will resume collection in their designated areas after the holiday. View the map below of scheduled areas for Veteran's Day.
