Fall & Spring Leaf Collection

Fall Leaf Collection

In the fall, Concord residents can rake their leaves to the curb (un-bagged) for Concord General Services' Highway and Utilities crews to vacuum up. Crews typically only have time to collect high priority areas once. Only leaves will be picked up and any miscellaneous items (including branches, rocks, and brush) will not be collected. Leaves are brought to several locations for composting after collection.

2016 Fall Leaf Collection
Fall Leaf Collection for 2016 is tentatively scheduled to begin on Monday, October 31, 2016 and will go through December 9, 2016 as weather permits. When collection begins, our Fall Leaf Collection Map will become available to display where crews have already collected to help forecast the direction of collection. Crews collected 942 loads (1,273 tons) of leaves last year, compared to 1,505 loads (2,529 tons) in 2014 due to heavier loads from increased snow and ice. Last year's numbers compare well with the average leaf tonnage.

Drop-Off Leaves
Concord residents can dispose of their leaves for free at Earth Materials Recycling Center, if the load is smaller than a non-commercial pick-up truck. Brush, branches, and limbs can be dropped off separately for a nominal fee. Proof of residency is required. Loads must be 100% free of any unacceptable materials. Residents will be required to empty contents of bags when disposing of yard waste. Any unacceptable materials found must be retrieved by person(s) dumping. Gelinas Excavation reserves the right to reject any load. Illegal dumping will be subject to fines and penalties.

Spring Leaf Collection

In the spring, Concord residents with curbside trash and recycling collection can place an unlimited amount of leaves and grass clippings to the curb by 7:00 a.m. on their trash collection day in biodegradable yard waste bags or labeled rigid containers for our solid waste contractor to collect. Please do not use plastic bags. Collection will occur for six weeks. Bags and containers containing any unacceptable items will not be collected. Leaves are brought to Earth Materials Recycling Center to be recycled into compost for reuse.

2016 Spring Leaf Collection
Spring Leaf Collection started on April 25, 2016 and lasted for six weeks through the first week of June 2016. Spring Leaf Collection for the 2016 season has officially ended as of June 4, 2016. Any remaining leaves can be taken to Earth Materials Recycling Center.

Residents with curbside collection have three options for Spring Leaf Collection:
  1. Place leaves in biodegradable paper yard waste bags (available at local stores).
