History
The Concord Historical Society’s Time Capsule Committee, chaired by Rebecca Lougee, Merrimack County Savings Bank, was charged with unearthing the 1965 Time Capsule sited at City Plaza, Downtown Concord. The 1965 Time Capsule was unearthed on June 6, 2014. Mayor Jim Bouley, Jim Milliken, Chair of the Concord Historical Society and Brent Todd, Chair of the 250 Celebration Committee lifted the time capsule, encased in a wooden box, from the ground and escorted it to Merrimack County Savings Bank where it remained for a year.  The capsule was officially opened on June 7th, 2015 at the Concord City Auditorium, and was reburied on November 7th, 2015.  It is scheduled to be reopened in 2065.

Material from the 1965 Time Capsule has been placed in archival boxes, and is now part of the Concord Room collection.  Two items (the wood fragment from the 1910 State House Dome and the marble fragment from the 1959 Boston & Maine Railroad waiting room) were placed in the 2065 Time Capsule which was reburied on November 7th, 2015.
