Residential Containerized Service - General Services Department - City of Concord NH
Residential Containerized Service
The Residential Containerized Service is for residents living in multi-unit facilities.
Dumpsters (large containers) are placed near the residential complexes so that
residents can put in household trash. Containers are emptied by the
contractor each week on scheduled days from Monday through Friday. There is no
collection on weekends or on the six holidays; New Year´s Day, Memorial Day, July
4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. When a regular collection day is
missed because of a holiday, the refuse will be collected on the weekday (Monday-Friday)
immediately following the holiday. Whenever such adjustments in the schedule occur,
notices will be placed in the Concord Monitor and on the answering machine at the General
Services Department.
Rules and Regulations
Only household trash should be placed in the dumpsters. Waste must be bagged and
tightly sealed to prevent liquids or waste from spilling out of the containers.
The contractor will not pick up yard
waste, medical, biological or infectious waste, construction or
demolition debris, furniture, mattresses, tires, bulky items or appliances.
Additionally the contractor will not pick up any items in the unacceptable waste section
of the ordinance or any other items that are not accepted at the incinerator. These
items must not be placed inside the dumpster. The incinerator can impose fines for
unacceptable waste inadvertently dumped into the pit at the incinerator by a hauler.
Refuse shall be placed inside of the dumpster and refuse placed alongside the dumpster
will not be picked up. The driver is under no obligation to get out
of the truck to pick up
refuse that was not originally in the container.
The area in front of the dumpster must not be blocked to allow the truck access.
In the winter, the area must be plowed and sanded to afford a safe pick up.
The contractor collects the trash between 7:00AM - 5:00PM on Monday through Friday.
Sometimes there are delays due to vehicle breakdowns, weather or long lines at the
incinerator. Residents should notify their property
manager or management company when a container is missed.
Cardboard boxes must be flattened and placed inside the container. The City
encourages residents to take cardboard boxes to the Transfer Station to be recycled.
The dumpsters are for use of residents only. Placement of refuse in a
dumpster by a person that does not reside at the dumpster's location constitutes theft of
service. A person can be fined for theft of service.
