1. Does the library have a fax machine for public use?

Unfortunately, we do not. However, there are several copy shops in downtown Concord which offer affordable fax service.

2. Does the library have a typewriter that I can use?

Yes, we have one typewriter, which is kept in the small study room. This room can be "signed out" for up to two hours a day. It cannot be reserved ahead of time - please speak with someone at the Service Desk if you would like to use the room.

3. Does the library have quiet study and group study areas?

The downstairs lounge is designated as a quiet study area. There are various other seating areas throughout the library, and staff does attempt to keep the noise level to a minimum. Please speak with a staff member if you feel that someone is being too loud.

There is also one small study room which can be "signed out" for up to two hours a day. The room has one table which seats up to 6 people. It cannot be reserved ahead of time - please speak with someone at the Service Desk if you would like to use the room.

4. How can I get news from the library?

You can receive e-mail updates from the library's Newsflash and Calendars. To sign up, click on the Notify Me link on any City webpage, or on the Library Homepage. The "Notify Me" page lists ALL of the possible email subscriptions that are available from the City website. Simply enter your email address, and then scroll down to find the Library Newsflash and/or Calendars. Just click on the little envelope to activate your subscription. You will need to reply to a confirmation email. You can unsubscribe at any time, by returning to the Notify Me page and "de-selecting" the list that you no longer wish to receive.
The library also has a Facebook Page, where we post event highlights and other news. We hope you'll "like" us!

5. What are some features of the library's new website?

The library website is a sub-site of the City of Concord's new website, which "went live" on February 14, 2013. Here are some of the new features:
- Ability to "subscribe" to Newsflashes and Calendars (Notify Me.)
- Submittable forms, including a Purchase Request Form, and an Interlibrary Loan Request Form.
- An online calendar - a welcome addition to our printable event flyers.
- Overall expansion, including numerous new pages, which are organized into a new "main menu" (About Us, Using the Library, etc.)
- Improved content - the New Arrivals Page and the Downloadable Page are two pages in particular that have updated content and helpful new links.
- A Help Center, loaded with FAQs.

We have tried to make the new site as intuitive and user-friendly as possible, and we welcome your feedback!

6. What's the easiest way to find Consumer Reports articles online?

Consumer Reports is available online in the library, and for home use by CPL library card holders. The quickest way to find a recent article is via the Money, Business, and Consumer News category on the Online Newsstand. (This resource is listed under the eLibrary on the main menu of the library's website). On the page for Money, Business, and Consumer News, you can type your search term right into the search box. If you are not at the library, you will be prompted for your library card number after submitting this search.
You will then see your results in EBSCOhost. For additional help searching for articles, please ask a librarian, or try the HELP menu within EBSCOhost (top right corner).
