CIP#85 - Warren Street, North Fruit Street & Kensington Road - Water Main Replacement - Minot Street, Woodman Street, Westbourne Street
July 6, 2018 Update:
The contractor will be installing new water main on Minot Street between Pleasant and School Street and Woodman Street between N. Fruit and Minot Streets. Toward the end of the week, the contractor will begin to connect residents to the new main. Traffic will be restricted to local traffic only.
June 29, 2018 Update:
On Saturday, the contractor will connect the Medical Office Complex and 194A Minot St. to temporary water between the hours of 7 a.m.-Noon. Businesses have been notified. Traffic will be restricted to local traffic only between Pleasant St. and Woodman St.
On Monday, the contractor will be replacing a water valve on School Street at Minot Street. This will require a scheduled water shut down on School Street between Kensington and North Fruit Street, Hillside Avenue and Minot Street between Woodman Street and School Street from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. All residents have been notified. School Street in this area will be closed to through traffic and emergency vehicles. The rest of the week, the contractor will be installing new water main on Minot Street. Traffic will be restricted to local traffic only. Emergency access to the retirement facility will be allowed. There will be no work on Wednesday July 4th.
June 15, 2018 Update:
Water main work will begin on Minot Street, between Pleasant and School Streets; Woodman Street, between Minot Street and North Fruit Street; and Westbourne Road north of School Street. Work will commence on Thursday laying temporary water main bypass. Residents will not be affected. Traffic impacts will be isolated.
May 25, 2018 Update:
The contractor has completed the water work on Warren Street, North Fruit Street, and Kensington Road. Next week, the contractor will be addressing punch list items and clean up. There is still work to occur in a few weeks at the intersection of Minot Street and School Street once Liberty Utilities relocated their gas main.
May 18, 2018 Update:
On Saturday, the contractor will be installing water valves on Pleasant Street at its intersection with North Fruit Street, Minot Street, and Kensington Road. This will result in a scheduled water shut down from #140 - #220 Pleasant Street between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.. Residents/businesses have been notified. During this time, Pleasant Street will be closed between Liberty Street and South Fruit Street. The detour will be on Warren Street. The northbound right turn on South Fruit Street to Pleasant Street will also be closed. Traffic trying to go westbound on Pleasant Street will be detoured to Redington Road and Tuttle Street. Monday through Friday, the contractor will be reconnecting residents to the new water main on Kensington Road. Kensington Road will be closed to thru traffic.
May 11, 2018 Update:
The new water main has been installed and all residents reconnected on Warren and North Fruit Streets. Our work on these two streets is complete. The contractor is scheduled to install the new water main on Kensington Road next week. Kensington Road will be closed to through traffic. Later in the week, the contractor will be excavating pits on Pleasant Street in the vicinity of Minor Street and Kensington Road. Traffic will be restricted to alternating one way at these locations.
May 4, 2018 Update:
On Saturday, May 5, the contractor will be working on North Fruit Street, between Warren and School Streets, to install water services. The street will be closed to through traffic. Warren Street, between Liberty and Pleasant Streets, will be closed to through traffic next week to finish service connections, remove temporary water bypass, lower structures and install drainage improvements in advance of the scheduled road paving project. Kensington Road will be closed to through traffic between Pleasant and School Streets so the new water main can be installed. Please seek alternative routes.
April 27, 2018 Update:
The contractor will be installing water and sewer services on Warren Street. Warren Street will be closed from Pleasant to Liberty Streets during this time. Use Pleasant Street for the detour. On Friday, they are scheduled to pre dig and plate a trench across Pleasant Street at its intersection of Kensington Road. This will reduce traffic to alternating one way traffic.
April 20, 2018 Update:
The contractor will continue to install the new water main on Warren Street. Warren Street will be closed from Liberty Street to North Fruit Street. Traffic is detoured Liberty Street to Pleasant Street. Expect minor delays. Water main installation will begin on North Fruit Street, between Pleasant and School Street, on Monday. North Fruit Street will be closed to through traffic next week. Two way access to the Day Care will be available. The contractor will be working in the intersection of Pleasant/ N. Fruit/Warren Streets, N. Fruit St., Kensington Rd and School Street on Saturday, April 21, from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Pleasant Street will be closed between S. Fruit Street and Liberty Streets to through traffic. The detour will be on Warren Street. School Street will be closed from Minot to Westbourne Road. Traffic delays are anticipated; please seek alternative routes.
April 16, 2018 Update:
Due to heavy rains predicted for Monday, the contractor will not be working. They will return on Tuesday and finish installing the water main on Liberty Street at its intersection with Warren Street. All road closures and details will return on Tuesday when they will begin to install the water main on Warren Street.
All this week, buses accessing the high school will continue to use the one way pattern on N. Fruit St., Woodman St. and Westbourne Rd for drop off and pickups. On street parking on these streets during this time is prohibited.
Residents please leave your water running on a trickle when outside temperatures are scheduled to go below 32 degrees. This will prevent frozen pipes.

April 6, 2018 Update:
Next week, the contractor will be installing valves in the existing water main at various intersections around Concord High School. Isolated traffic delays are expected. Road work at the intersection of Warren and Liberty Street is scheduled for Thursday and Friday, and will require the intersection to be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Pine Street. There will be no parking on Pine Street, between Warren and Liberty Streets, during work hours. Residents and businesses on Warren Street (between North Fruit and Liberty) will be connected to temporary water. The Warren Street entrance to the high school parking lot will be closed from April 9th, through May 6th. Parking lot access will be via Pleasant Street.
March 30, 2018 Update:
Next week, the contractor working on the water main replacement project for North Fruit Street, Warren Street, and Kensington Road, will begin to set up the temporary water mains on all of the streets. Residents will not be connected to the temporary water main until the week of April 9th. Test pits will be dug at the intersections of School Street and Kensington Road, School Street and North Fruit Street, School Street and Woodman Street, and Liberty Street and Warren Street. All streets will be open and traffic delays will be minimal. Warren Street, from Liberty Street to Pleasant Street, is scheduled to be closed to through traffic starting the week of April 16th.
March 16, 2018 Update:
On Wednesday, March 21st, at 6:30 PM, in the Concord High School Cafeteria, the Engineering Services Division will hold a Neighborhood Public Meeting to discuss construction schedules and temporary traffic patterns during construction associated with upcoming Water Main Replacement and Street Paving projects that will take place in the vicinity of Concord High School.
The water main will be replaced on Warren Street, from South Fruit to Liberty Street; North Fruit Street, from Pleasant to School Street; and Kensington Road, from Pleasant to School Street. Work is expected to begin on Warren Street on March 26th, weather permitting.
