CIP543 - Merrimack River Greenway Trail

February 25, 2016 Update:

A notice to proceed was issued to the design consultant (VHB) for the design and permitting for approximately 150’ of paved multi-use trail emanating from the north parking lot at Terrill Park and an approximately 100’ long raised boardwalk extension beyond the paved trail. This project is hoped to one day be part of a larger multi-phase project, the Merrimack River Greenway Trail (MRGT). This initial portion of the MRGT will stand alone as a recreational resource associated with Terrill Park. It will provide an ADA accessible viewing platform of the Merrimack River, an inlet tributary and associated wetland systems, and downtown Concord in the distance. The platform will allow for nature and wildlife observation/education. The long term vision is to extend the boardwalk under subsequent projects northward across an additional 1,200 feet of wetlands to where it will touch down on City owned conservation land, at which point an improved multiuse path will extend northward toward Loudon Road. The project is scheduled for construction in the late summer/early fall.
