The Concord Police Department reinstated its Motorcycle Unit in May, 2013. Historically, the Department has utilized motorcycles as a police resource to address crime, enhance motor vehicle enforcement activity, and to participate in community based events. However, in the early 1990's the Motorcycle Unit was phased out. Under the direction of former Chief Duval this Unit was reinstated and has been received with great enthusiasm.
The Motorcycle Unit currently consists of seven officers and is supervised by a Sergeant and a Lieutenant. The Department has two Harley Davidson Electra Glide police motorcycles.
The Motorcycle Unit has been very busy from the start and the use of police motorcycles has proven to be an effective tool in addressing motor vehicle related complaints. The officers assigned to the Unit have also spent time interacting with motorcycle enthusiasts, community groups, and residents of the community.
